Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and cannabis legalization which could lead to the citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her name is well-known due to the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
